How often should you tune your piano?

Piano tone, pitch and touch may be affected, due to climatic conditions. Swing from cold to hot or wet to dry can cause the material to contract. Also because the strings have very high tension on them, and they just stretch as time passes.
Pianos generally fall into grand or vertical categories, and every manufacture uses different material and may have their own recommendation for servicing the piano. However, most manufactures suggest:

1. In the first year, your new piano needs to be tuned about 4 times.
2. After the first year, the piano should be tuned at least twice each year, depending how often its being played and the environment it is in.
3. Every time you move the piano, most likely it needs service. Not only because of the bumps that can knock it out of tune but also the humidity changes.

If a piano is left too flat for too long, the piano may not be able to take the stress of increasing the string tension back up to Standard Pitch. Pianos can last for a hundred years if tuned regularly, taken care of reasonably, and repaired as needed,

Need your piano Tuned? LMA are partnered with great specialist with 30 years of experience, who can tune your piano for a discounted price. Click Here to fill out a request form and one of our technicians will contact you.
